The Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) and charitable not-for-profit organization committed to delivering high-quality disability services in Kenya. Focused on rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities, APDK provides essential programs such as the supply of appropriate wheelchairs, access to assistive technology, and tailored support to improve mobility and independence. Through its support for people with disabilities, APDK empowers individuals economically by equipping them with sustainable skills and resources while advocating for their rights. By promoting inclusive development in Kenya, APDK works to create a society where everyone, regardless of ability, can thrive.

APDK Objectives

  • To Create awareness on causes, prevention and management of various disabilities with the aim of reducing prevalence and overcome prejudices and traditional believes towards Persons with Disabilities.
  • To promote quality rehabilitation services through medical/social rehabilitation and economic empowerment.
  • To develop and provide low cost assistive/supportive appliances through appropriate technology to meet the needs of Persons with Disabilities especially in the rural community.
  • To network with the Government and other partners to effectively co-ordinate activities targeting Persons with Disabilities to minimise duplication of services.
  • To promote formation of grassroot groups of Persons with disabilities to increase their self-confidence to achieve full participation in their communities and attain equal rights.

As part of appreciating the Devolved system of Government and the Constitution of Kenya 2010, APDK has structured itself into Regional hubs that include;

Embu and the larger North Eastern regional which is arid and Semi-Arid regions branches
