About
Niko Fiti project is an initiative under Kenya Reinsurance Social Corporate Responsibility. The initiative dubbed ‘Niko Fiti’ “Ability beyond Disability” is implemented by APDK as a technical partner for Kenya Reinsurance Corporation.
Objective
- The campaign aims at destigmatizing disability in the Kenyan society
- Promote provision of personal mobility to enable the beneficiaries engage in daily community, social and nation building activities.
Outcome
- The Initiative is now recognized nationally for promotion of mobility and accessibility of PWDs faced by mobility impairments through provision of assistive and mobility devices.
- Over the years the campaign, through a series of distribution has traversed the most parts of the country supporting persons with disabilities with various assistive and mobility devices
- Educated the public on the importance of accepting persons with disability.
- Since its inception in 2011 the project has touched and transformed the lives of 9,897 persons with disability (PWD).

2023 Caravan traversed Nyeri, Uasin Gishu,Trans Nzoia counties
2022 Busia and Kwale counties
2021 Caravan traversed Mombasa, Meru, Nandi, and Kuria East and West counties
2020 Put on hold due to Covid-19
2019 – Caravan traversed Machakos, Kitui, Baringo and Nakuru counties
2017 – Traversed Nyamira, Homa Bay, Bungoma, Meru, Embu, Isiolo, and Transzoia counties
2016 – Caravan traversed Eldoret and Kisumu regions
2015: Empowered Persons with Disability by training them on financial management
2014: – The Caravans traversed Kisii, Kisumu, Busia, Muranga, Embu, Kerugoya, Mikinduri and Isiolo counties
2013: Caravan visited the counties of Muranga, Embu, Nyeri, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu,Machakos, Voi and Mombasa.
